Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers – bosses may doubt motivation after contract extension

Last March, Aaron Rodgers signed a lucrative three-year contract with the Green Bay Packers. But the franchise’s bosses have since cast doubt on the quarterback’s motivation.

The future of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is one of the biggest topics in the NFL offseason.

General manager Brian Gutekunst already said there are “all options on the table”. The playmaker himself said that “for everyone directly and indirectly involved, an earlier decision would be best.”

It is not yet known whether the 39-year-old wants to spend another season in Green Bay. But it seems that a further commitment is conditional.

For example, a “high-ranking Packers source” told “Bally Sports” that the days of “begging for Rodgers to return on his terms” are over.

Is Rodgers leaving the Packers?

So, officials at the franchise are said to feel Rodgers let the team down a bit after his contract extension last March. According to the report, the bosses didn’t like the fact that Rodgers didn’t work out with the newly drafted receivers during the offseason.

While the door remains open for Rodgers, should he again choose to skip the offseason program, enthusiasm would likely be low.

But whether Rodgers even wants to continue on his three-year, $150 million contract that he signed on March 8, 2022, is still completely unclear.

According to sports journalist Trey Wingo, the playmaker is said to have held talks with the New York Jets on Monday. After Derek Carr signed with the New Orleans Saints, the four-time NFL MVP is the hottest candidate for the quarterback position in New York.
