Former Seahawks star Marshawn Lynch avoids jail time for drunk driving

Marshawn Lynch, former Seattle Seahawks running back, will likely avoid jail time for a DUI.

In August 2022, Marshawn Lynch made headlines when he was caught asleep at the wheel of a car by the police. The former Seattle Seahawks running back was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain lane and driving an unregistered vehicle.

According to media reports, Lynch reached a settlement with the public prosecutor’s office before the first day of the trial on Wednesday.

“Mr. Lynch has not been convicted of a misdemeanor at this time. He has agreed to comply with certain conditions that will result in this case being closed as a reckless driving offense,” Lynch’s attorneys were quoted as saying by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

In addition to a fine of 1,1140 US dollars, these apparently also include 200 hours of volunteer work. In addition, Lynch will apparently have to attend drunk driving courses, complete a victim interview, undergo alcohol dependency testing and stay out of trouble for a year.

A violation of the conditions would result in another drunk driving conviction. He is also apparently scheduled to appear in court again on May 21.
