For Commanders investigation: Congressional committee subpoenas Dan Snyder and Roger Goodell

In the US Congressional investigation into Washington Commanders officials, team owner Dan Snyder and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell are scheduled to testify before the end of June.

Munich/Washington DC – In the course of the investigation into the working climate at the Washington Commanders, the US Congress has also summoned Commanders owner Dan Snyder and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to a hearing on 22 June.

Carolyn B. Maloney, chair of the oversight and reform committee responsible, and Raja Krishnamoorthi, chair of the subcommittee on economic and consumer policy, said on Wednesday.

“Since we began our investigation in October, the committee’s goal has been to uncover the truth about the culture of harassment and abuse at Washington Commanders, hold those responsible accountable, and better protect workers across the country,” Maloney said in the statement.

NFL and Washington Commanders respond with statements

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed the NFL’s receipt of the subpoena and announced a “direct and timely response” from the league. McCarthy also emphasised the NFL’s cooperation in the investigation to date: “The NFL has cooperated extensively during the Committee’s extensive investigation of the Washington Commanders, such as by producing more than 460,000 pages of documents and answering numerous questions in writing and in conversations with Committee staff. “

The Washington Commanders also released a similar statement. According to the statement, they, too, had assisted the NFL in cooperating with all of the committee’s previous enquiries. “We look forward to responding to the Committee’s request in a timely and direct manner,” the Commanders statement continued.
