Jared Goff could soon set a new NFL record. The Lions quarterback is only 44 passes away from doing so.
Jared Goff is on the verge of breaking the NFL record for most consecutive passes thrown without an interception.
The Detroit Lions quarterback is only 44 passes away from doing so – none of which may end up in the hands of the opponents.
The signal caller threw his last interception in week nine of last season against the Green Bay Packers. Their quarterback at the time – Aaron Rodgers, now with the New York Jets – still holds the record.
Rodgers threw a total of 402 passes without a single interception in 2018. Close behind him is the now-retired Tom Brady with 399 consecutive passes without an interception.
Goff currently still has 359 – third-best in league history. After his last pick, the 28-year-old threw 324 passes last season. He added another 35 without an interception in the season-opening win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Goff had a decent game anyway. Against the Chiefs around star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, he completed 22 of 35 passes – that corresponds to a completion rate of 62.9 percent.
Goff still needs 44 passes into the hands of his Lions teammates to set a new record. The playmaker can continue to work on this in week two.
Detroit will face the Seattle Seahawks at home in Ford Field.
The Seahawks will first face the Los Angeles Rams at home tomorrow (10:25 p.m.) before the duel with the Lions.
