The roster cuts are coming up in the NFL. Lions head coach Dan Campbell is excited about his franchise having to cut several good players
By next Tuesday, NFL teams must have made their roster cuts. It will not be easy for the Detroit Lions either to reduce their squad from 90 to 53 players. Head coach Dan Campbell is really happy about it, though.
After the preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, he said many of the players on his franchise’s roster have played very well, which will make deciding which 37 athletes won’t make it more difficult.
“In some ways it makes it clearer, in other ways it makes it very unclear. And that’s a good problem to have. It was good to see,” he told US reporters.
Campbell, for example, singled out cornerback Khalil Dorsey as a player who strongly recommended himself for the squad. Dorsey managed a 62-yard kickoff return, plus several plays on defense.
“We have to part with some really good players,” Campbell said, “And that’s tough. That’s tough. But it also means that you’ve moved on and the talent level has gone up. And that’s a good thing for a football team. “
