Detroit Lions: Amon-Ra St. Brown sets German NFL record

Amon-Ra St. Brown has set an NFL touchdown record for professional footballers from Germany. The German-American pass receiver scored his seventh touchdown of the season in the Detroit Lions’ 42:17 win over the Denver Broncos. In doing so, St. Brown surpassed his previous best from the previous season.

The Lions remain on course for the play-offs with their tenth win in the 14th game of the regular season. Detroit has a commanding lead in the NFC North over the Minnesota Vikings (7-7 wins) with three games remaining. On Christmas Eve, there will be a direct clash against the runners-up, who lost 27-24 after overtime at the Cincinnati Bengals.

The play-offs would be a kind of redemption for Detroit, who have only been allowed to watch during the hot phase since 2016. Against the Broncos, St. Brown provided the most space gained with 112 yards. Quarterback Jared Goff, who threw for five touchdowns, and rookie Sam LaPorta with three touchdowns were also outstanding.
