Ex-Cowboys player Deion Sanders is being mentioned in the media as a possible head coach for the Texans. Team owner Jerry Jones has now commented on whether he can see Sanders in the NFL in the future

Despite their victory over the Washington Commanders, the Dallas Cowboys are in a crisis. With head coach Mike McCarthy in his final year of contract, a coaching change is likely for the upcoming season. Deion Sanders is being discussed in the media as a possible future candidate.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer spent five seasons in Dallas and won a Super Bowl with the Cowboys in 1995. But is the Colorado Buffaloes’ coach really an option for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones?

During an interview with “105.3 The Fan” in Dallas, Jones was asked about Deion’s potential as an NFL coach. He suggested that Sanders’ skills would be better suited to the job of a college coach.

“One of his greatest skills that he really brings to college is that he is almost unrivaled as a recruiter,” said Jones. “Guys want to play for him and he has a way of selling the product. That recruiting skill is something that’s not necessarily a requirement as an NFL coach. One of his greatest abilities will be putting the team together by bringing great talent to play for him in Colorado.”

This doesn’t sound like Jones is favoring the former Cowboys cornerback as the future head coach.

Sanders is happy in Colorado

Sanders also seems happy in Colorado and doesn’t necessarily want to force a move to the NFL. “I’m happy where I am, I’m doing well. I’m settled here now,” Sanders said. ‘I’m rested, I’m good, I’m happy, I’m excited about the place I’m at. I love it here, really.’

Perhaps Sanders is more of a pipe dream for many Cowboys fans.
