Daniel Jones on the verge of being released by the New York Giants: “I don’t think he’ll play another down”

The New York Giants have had a terrible season so far, sitting at 2-8 after Week 10. One reason for this is QB Daniel Jones, who, according to an insider, is on the verge of being released.

The first touchdown pass at home in over two years. After week nine, some hope emerged that quarterback Daniel Jones could be the long-term solution as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants – only to be disappointed again in the Munich game against the Carolina Panthers.

Jones completed just 63.3 percent of his passes in the 2024 season, with eight passing touchdowns and just seven interceptions. That’s not enough at the highest level, especially given the former first-round pick’s astronomical salary. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Jones could have played his last game for the Giants in Munich:

“I would guess that we won’t see Daniel Jones play another down for the Giants. That would be my guess at the moment,” Schefter predicted on Tuesday. ‘Because Brian Daboll’s tone was different yesterday than in other weeks. It was always, ’Daniel Jones is our starter, Daniel Jones is our starter, Daniel Jones is our starter,‘ and then yesterday: ’We’re evaluating everything’.”

He ranks 27th in the NFL quarterback rankings with an ESPN ranking of 46.3.

The Giants have Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito as alternatives.
