Dalvin Cook has taken a stand for the first time on the allegations of domestic violence made by his ex-girlfriend. In doing so, he denies any culpability.
Munich/Minnesota – Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook maintained his innocence to reporters in a brief press conference Wednesday after allegations of domestic violence by his ex-girlfriend became public.
“I want to let everyone know that I am the victim in this situation and the truth and details of the conflict will come out soon,” he said.
He added: “Seeing my private matters on social media is not ideal for me. I stand here with my head held high, knowing that the truth will come out.”
In addition, Cook said in regards to the franchise, “I hate to be a distraction to the team, but I know my teammates are behind me 100 percent and are there for me as well as I am there for them. “
What is the Cook case about?
His ex-girlfriend Gracelyn Trimble accuses him of beating her and holding her against her will during an argument at his home in November 2020.
Cook’s lawyer David Valentini, on the other hand, had stressed in a statement on Tuesday night that his client had been assaulted by Trimble after she broke into his home. Later, she had tried to extort millions of dollars from him.
However, the further proceedings in this case are still open. At the moment, it is testimony against testimony.
What happens now?
Which version of events is true will have to be determined in court.
Cook and the Minnesota Vikings are 3-5 after nine games and in second place in the NFC North. The Vikings will now face the Los Angeles Chargers next weekend.
