Dallas Cowboys: Jerry Jones announces Leighton Vander Esch out for the season

Setback for the Dallas Cowboys! The Texans will be without linebacker Leighton Vander Esch for the rest of the season.

The Dallas Cowboys will no longer be able to rely on Leighton Vander Esch this season. This was confirmed by team owner and general manager Jerry Jones in a radio interview with “105.3 The Fan”: “It’s a very significant loss for us. We just wish him all the best.”

“Just the nature of his injury causes me to really think longer term and beyond what it means for next week or next month,” the 81-year-old continued, hinting that even the 27-year-old’s career could be in jeopardy.

The linebacker has already missed the Texans since week five with a neck injury. This is not the first time the 27-year-old has had problems with his neck. He already missed several games in 2019 (three games) and 2022 (seven games) because of it.

In the current season, Vander Esch, who was picked by the Cowboys in the first round in 2018, played five games. He totaled 30 tackles and one fumble recovery.
