After inducting former NFL pass rusher DeMarcus Ware into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August, the Dallas Cowboys have now announced they will also induct Ware into their Ring of Honor.
DeMarcus Ware will be inducted into the Dallas Cowboys’ Ring of Honor. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones surprised the Cowboys’ sack leader with the news at a season-opening event.
“When I came here in 2005, I wanted to establish my name here. Every year I’ve said that. I want to see my name set in stone and that’s what I’ve worked for every year,” Ware let slip.
Ware: Cowboys legend
Ware was drafted in the first round by the Cowboys in 2005 and has 118 sacks, more than any Cowboys player before. He was selected to the Pro Bowl nine times and was First-Team All-Pro four times. He was also voted All-Decade Team of the 2000s. Ware spent only the last three years of his career with the Denver Broncos, with whom he won a Super Bowl – unlike his time with the Cowboys.
“This is clearly DeMarcus’ franchise. I take Ring of Honor very seriously. He’s exactly the player I had in mind for this,” Jerry Jones said on the sidelines of the announcement.
It has not yet been announced when the honour will take place. However, it will be before November 30 where he will receive his Hall of Fame ring.
