Dak Prescott has a cool reaction to the Trey Lance trade. He gets more emotional when he talks about the loser of the trade
It has been known since Friday that Trey Lance will play for the Dallas Cowboys in future.
The welcome from fellow quarterback Dak Prescott, however, is less than effusive.
“He’s a first-round talent, and you always try to make your team better,” Prescott said in a first reaction about Lance, who was traded to Texas from the San Francisco 49ers.
But the 30-year-old gets more emotional when it comes to the consequences of the trade for his teammate Will Grier. He will probably have to leave the franchise after the Cowboys put Lance in front of him.
“To be honest, my thoughts are with Will right now. It’s a really tough situation,” Prescott said. “I love that guy. He’s busting his a– and meticulously preparing for every day over and over again.”
Prescott, set to be the Cowboys’ starting quarterback, also revealed that he received no signals in advance of the trade.
Until kickoff of the final preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders (31-16) on Saturday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn’t mention a word to Prescott about getting a new colleague to work alongside him.
Still, he said he was not surprised. “I’ve been in this league and on this team for eight years now. To be honest, it’s hard to still be surprised. “
