Dak Prescott could play again after a serious hamstring injury, as he himself says.
There are still almost five months to go before the start of the regular season in the NFL. But Dak Prescott could play again, according to his own statement.
“If I had to play today, I could definitely do it,” the Dallas Cowboys quarterback said on the sidelines of a charity event for children with cancer.
The 31-year-old had injured his thigh so badly in the game against the Atlanta Falcons last November that surgery was necessary and he was out for the rest of the season.
Just a few weeks earlier, he had signed a monster contract worth $240 million over four years with the Cowboys, making him the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history in terms of average annual income.
Prescott was unable to justify this sum last season until his injury. After eight games, he had just eleven touchdowns and eight interceptions to his name – rarely before had the signal caller had such poor statistics as during this phase.
But now he is fully motivated again and focused on the new season. “It’s all about staying healthy now and getting healthy enough to play 17 to 20 games depending on how far we go,” Prescott said.
“I’m getting closer and closer to the level I’m looking for, although I don’t want to give a percentage yet,” the former fourth-round pick continued. ‘I know team training starts soon, and I can imagine being back at least in parts, if not full time.’
Prescott does not want to rush his return
Given his advanced age and the injuries he has suffered, he does not want to rush his return, Prescott announced.
The first team activities in preparation for the 2025 season will begin in May.
