Chicago Bears: “Insulting!” – Lawyer of Alan Williams finds clear words after coaching quake

In the wake of the Chicago Bears coaching quake, the resigned coach’s lawyer takes a stand – and finds clear words.

Chaos at the Chicago Bears! After critical statements by quarterback Justin Fields regarding offensive coaching, the franchise is now also without a defensive coordinator after two days of play. The previous DC Alan Williams surprisingly resigned on Wednesday.

The resignation initially remained mysterious despite a statement, according to various rumours, the FBI allegedly searched Williams’ house and found “sensitive” contents. In addition, further rumours made the rounds, according to which the Chicago Bears’ training facility was also inspected. The background was initially unclear.

Now the lawyer of the resigned coach has spoken out and found clear words. “The rumours in the social media are offensive and one hundred percent untrue,” Andrew M. Stroth stated in an interview with “NBC”.

He added: “Coach Williams resigned because of personal, health challenges and family issues. There was no raid on Halas Hall and there was no raid on his home,” he continued.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles also confirmed this. “I don’t want to comment further in detail on the issue. But the fact that there was a raid on Halas Hall is completely false. I don’t know where that came from,” he told US reporters.

Williams himself had explained his resignation as follows: “I’m going to take a step back to take care of my health and my family.” The coach had already missed last week for personal reasons.

Williams wants to come back as coach

“I appreciate the opportunity to work with the Chicago Bears, a storied NFL franchise with a rich history. I also want to thank Coach Matt Eberflus and General Manager Ryan Poles for giving me the opportunity to come to Chicago,” Williams continued.

He also announced that he is targeting a return, “After taking some time to get healthy, I plan to come back and coach again.”

Williams worked as defensive coordinator with the Bears since last season, and has been coaching in the NFL since 2001. He won the Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts in the 2006 season, when he was defensive backs coach.

Eberflus takes defensive calls

The Bears had already found a short-term solution to the loss of Williams last game day when head coach Matt Eberflus took over defensive calls in a 17-27 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He indicated he will do so again Sunday in the game at the Kansas City Chiefs. “I did that for a total of 12 years,” Eberflus said. Continuing the season without DC is also an option. “I think with the experience we have on defense, it’s not a problem,” he said.
