Jeff Bezos has been considered one of the top candidates to buy Washington Commanders for months. Now US media is reporting the Amazon mogul is being prevented from making an offer.
The sale of Washington Commanders is increasingly turning into a confusion game.
For a long time, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos was considered one of the absolute top candidates to acquire the NFL franchise. In the meantime, several US media outlets are exchanging blows over whether Bezos is being prevented from making a bid at all.
First, the New York Post reported that Bezos had been “choked” into making an offer to buy the franchise. Then “The Athletic” wrote that Bank of America, which is to handle the sale, had told the entrepreneur that he was out of the running. According to the report, Bezos had allegedly been prevented from bidding for the team “for months. ”
Was Bezos prevented from bidding for the Commanders?
Washington owner Daniel Snyder reportedly won’t sell the franchise to Bezos because the “Washington Post,” which is owned by the Amazon mogul, reported on the toxic work environment and sexual harassment at the Commanders.
It is even considered possible that Snyder will forgo a sale altogether.
Whether the other NFL team owners would accept that, however, is unclear. Snyder has been controversial for a long time, many owners would like to get rid of him.
