Kyler Murray has not yet emerged as the leader of the Arizona Cardinals. His teammate Kelvin Beachum now directed clear words to his quarterback and puts him under pressure before the new season.
Kyler Murray signed a new mega contract last year and has finally become the franchise face of the Arizona Cardinals.
But after not really convincing last season and also missing the last third of the season due to a torn cruciate ligament, he still has to prove that he can be that face.
His longtime tackle Kelvin Beachum, in an appearance on “Arizona Sports,” now explained what he expects from the quarterback: “Grow up. Be a man and grow up.” He did not mean to question Murray’s abilities as a leader, he said. However, he made it clear that something has to happen for the quarterback and the Cardinals to improve.
Beachum: “Murray is still in a process. “
According to Beachum, quarterbacks “have to be able to lead an organization and a team.” Murray, however, would still go through the process of becoming that leader.
“They paid him for a certain reason, and that’s for his talent. He has the ability to lead a team. But he has to lead the franchise in every single capacity. “Beachum added that he definitely believed in Murray as the face of the franchise.
For Murray, the coming season will definitely be a challenge after his injury and under new head coach Jonathan Gannon. Then we’ll see if he can be the leader he’s been asked to be.
