Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray may not want to play again without a new contract

So far, quarterback Kyler Murray has not received a contract extension offer from the Arizona Cardinals, so he is now reportedly drawing the first consequences. A tough poker is looming.

Glendale/Munich – The Arizona Cardinals will have to do without quarterback Kyler Murray for the time being in preparation for the new season.

As reported by the “NFL Network”, the signal caller does not want to play for the Cards again as long as he has not signed a new contract.

No new offer yet

So far, the franchise has not made a new contract offer to its starting quarterback. There are apparently no moves in that direction so far, either. Murray would only receive $5.5 million in the fourth year of his rookie contract next year.

With numerous high-profile contract extensions for quarterbacks in recent weeks, Murray is now hoping for his payday as well, according to reports.

The Cardinals have most recently announced that they will not trade Murray under any circumstances, so a long and tough poker between the two sides could be the result. It remains unclear when an agreement will be reached between the two sides.

Early playoff exit

The two-time Pro Bowler Murray totaled 3,787 yards, 24 touchdowns and ten interceptions in 2021.

After a strong 7-0 start to the season, Murray (also due to injury) and the Cardinals fell out of sync. In the playoffs, it was all over in the first game against the eventual Super Bowl winner Los Angeles Rams.
