Arizona Cardinals – DeAndre Hopkins suspended for six games: “Let my team down”

DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals has been suspended by the NFL for the first six games of the upcoming season.

Munich – Bad news for the Arizona Cardinals. Pro-Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been suspended for six games by the league. That’s according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.

The 29-year-old is said to have taken performance-enhancing drugs. Hopkins scored eight touchdowns last season. However, he missed much of the playing time due to injury. He also amassed over 1,000 receiving yards in five of his nine NFL seasons.

The Cardinals may have known about the impending suspension of their star receiver for some time. With Marquise Brown, the Cards got a replacement via trade on the first day of the NFL Draft. They also lost Christian Kirk in free agency, who left the franchise for Jacksonville.

DeAndre Hopkins reacts: “Shocked and confused “

Shortly after the suspension was announced, the star receiver took a stand on the suspension. On Twitter, he announced in clear words: “In my 10 career years, I have never had a positive test for banned substances. So when the time came in November 2021, I was shocked and confused,” the Cardinals receiver said.

He also provided an apology. “I want to apologise to the Cardinals organisation, the fans and my teammates. I didn’t mean to let them down,” the 29-year-old explained.

“See you in Week 7,” the Cardinals star concluded his post. The wide receiver plans not to appeal the decision.
