After “Trump dance”: St. Brown apologizes

German-American star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has apologized for his “Trump dance” during his Detroit Lions’ victory over the Washington Commanders (44:22). “If I offended anyone, I would like to apologize. That was not my intention. We were just having fun,“ St. Brown said on the ”St. Brown Podcast,“ which he records with his brother Equanimeous St. Brown: ”If any president had been at that game and had a dance, I would have done the same. It had nothing to do with who the president was.”

After scoring his eighth touchdown of the season in the NFL away game in Washington, the 24-year-old pointed toward the boxes and danced in a manner similar to US President Donald Trump at his campaign rallies. However, Trump had taken his seat in the stands shortly before and was booed by parts of the audience. St. Brown also received a punch below the helmet from Washington’s Daron Payne.

The video of St. Brown’s dance subsequently went viral and elicited mixed reactions. According to ESPN, the 79-year-old president also responded to the German-American’s performance by reposting a video on his Truth Social network. The caption read: “Amon-Ra St. Trump.”
