Once again the topic of the offseason: Aaron Rodgers. The “still quarterback” of the Green Bay Packers is facing a trade to the New York Jets. Franchise president Mark Murphy talks about the negotiations between the two teams.
Nearly a month ago, Aaron Rodgers publicly announced his intention to join the New York Jets.
Not much has happened since then, except that the Jets have signed some players that A-Rod likes. Wide receiver Allen Lazard, for example.
Aaron Rodgers: When does the trade to the Jets go up?
The Rodgers trade, on the other hand, is dragging on. Or is it a done deal? Fans and pundits are guessing. It’s probably about the package the New York team has to put up in order for the Packers to let their quarterback go.
Some believe the trade won’t be announced until draft day so the other NFL franchises have to prepare for all eventualities and thus work harder. The biggest fear for both teams: the trade could fall through.
Packers president speaks out on Aaron Rodgers
Mark Murphy now made a new water level announcement. “Our general manager Brian Gutekunst is in communication with New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas about it,” the Packers president reported matter-of-factly. But Murphy mentioned in the same breath that there was no ultimatum by when a deal had to be completed. Talks are going on without pressure. Reportedly.
“I’m involved in the talks. We are working on it. There’s nothing more to say about it right now,” Murphy put reporters off at a Packers promo tour in Wisconsin. The Packers manager also revealed to “ESPN”: “I hope Jordan Love will be a similar calibre quarterback to what Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre was for us.”
So the NFL world must continue to be patient. The topic remains hot.
