Aaron Rodgers caused confusion with an emotional post. Is the quarterback saying goodbye to Green Bay or even the NFL?
Green Bay/Munich – Aaron Rodgers caused confusion with a strange post on Instagram. The Green Bay Packers quarterback posted pictures from the past season with his confidants and his teammates. He thanked “some of the incredible special people in my life with a few pictures from the past beautiful year.”
His words were directed at his head coach Matt LaFleur, former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett (now head coach of the Denver Broncos) and his quarterback replacement Jordan Love, among others. Other companions such as wide receiver Randall Cobb and offensive tackle David Bakhtiari are also mentioned by name.
His special thanks go to “former and current teammates”. Rodgers writes, “The friendships we have will last beyond our time together in this game. I am grateful for the roles each of you played in making my life that much better.”
Further, he writes, “I love you guys and will cherish the memories we have made.” What these words mean, however, is completely unclear. Is Rodgers hinting at the end of his career or merely his departure from Green Bay? Or does this message have no special meaning because he simply wants to thank everyone at the end of the season?
The future of the 38-year-old is unclear. So far, he had declared that he would keep all options open. According to Ian Rapoport of the “NFL Network”, the Packers are prepared to make Rodgers the highest-paid player in the NFL by extending his contract. The only question is whether he’s even interested in staying in Green Bay.
