The Mainz-based TV channel ZDFinfo is airing an Oscar-winning five-part documentary series about former football star O.J. Simpson.
Cologne (SID) – The Mainz-based TV channel ZDFinfo will broadcast an Oscar-winning five-part documentary series about former football star O.J. Simpson. The first episode (“I’m not black, I’m O.J.!”) will be shown on 14 December (11.15 p.m.), highlighting the beginning of Simpson’s career.
The series by American film producer and director Ezra Edelman revolves around the entire life of Orenthal James Simpson, who became an NFL superstar in the 1970s and later achieved sad fame because of the trial for the murder of his ex-wife (1994). The chase between Simpson and the police, broadcast live on US television, is unforgettable.
The former professional athlete was acquitted in the circumstantial trial, despite considerable doubts about his innocence – but he later ended up in prison. In 2008, the fallen sports hero was sentenced to 33 years in prison for an armed robbery at a Las Vegas hotel. In 2017, he left Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada early on parole.
