Munich – The NFL’s investigations into the Washington football team are continuing to widen.
After Raiders head coach Jon Gruden resigned because emails written by him with racist and sexist content, among other things, were leaked to the public, further details are now becoming known.
For example, a report in The New York Times suggests that there was a familiar and friendly relationship between former Washington president Bruce Allen and the NFL’s top lawyer, Jeff Pash.
Pash and Allen good friends
So mail histories of the two sent between 2009 and 2018 are part of the circa 650,000 messages that have since been gathered for the investigation.
The emails reveal a close friendship. The two gave each other gifts, exchanged questionable emails, complained about the NFL’s efforts to improve player safety, discussed lowering player salaries and helped each other in different situations.
The emails reveal a close friendship.
For example, Pash, who is actually in charge of the investigation against the football team, wrote in reference to the allegations of sexual harassment of cheerleaders, “I know you care and wouldn’t tolerate anything inappropriate.”
Pash further shared Allen’s frustration when the NFL hired Jocelyn Moore, a black woman who has worked for several Democratic senators, as a lobbyist.
Fine against football team overturned
According to the report, Pash also defended the “Redskins” name and joked about Latino fans. The general counsel apparently helped overturn penalties levied against the former Redskins when Allen contacted him. That included reversing a $15,000 fine the team received for tampering with the Injury Report.
Eff Miller, Executive Vice President of Communications at the NFL, already let it be known in a statement in the Pash case: “Jeff Pash is a respected and characterful leader in the NFL Any attempt to portray these emails as inappropriate is either misleading or simply false. “
