The NFL has again handed down suspensions, indefinitely, for gambling violations.
The National Football League (NFL) has again handed out suspensions for gambling violations. Isaiah Rodgers (25) and Rashod Berry (26) of the Indianapolis Colts as well as free agent Demetrius Taylor (24) were suspended for an indefinite period of time, but at least until the end of next season. The players had bet on NFL games in 2022, which is prohibited in the league.
The Colts terminated the contracts of Rodgers and Berry following the suspensions. Colts general manager Chris Ballard said in a statement that the “integrity of the game is of the utmost importance”. In another case, Nicholas Petit-Frere (23) of the Tennessee Titans was suspended for the first six games of the season. The O-lineman had been betting on other sports on the club’s turf, which is also banned in the NFL.
In April, five NFL players had already been suspended for similar offences, including four professionals from the Detroit Lions, the club of German-American wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
