Tyreek Hill never knew any adjustment problems with either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Miami Dolphins. This season, the star receiver is looking to accomplish something previously unheard of.
1000 receiving yards in a season is strong. 1500 is outstanding. 2000 would be legendary.
Because no one has ever surpassed that magic mark in the NFL. The closest to it was Calvin Johnson in the 2012 season, who caught balls for an incredible 1964 yards for the Detroit Lions.
In the new season, Tyreek Hill is also preparing to break this record again. He will be part of the Miami Dolphins’ explosive offence led by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and fellow receiver Jaylen Waddle. So the conditions are right.
Hill targets 2000 receiving yard season
In his first season on South Beach, “Cheetah” had already set a personal as well as a franchise record with 1710 receiving yards and earned his seventh Pro Bowl nomination in his seventh year. That’s when the 2000 question practically forced itself on him.
It was asked following the final session of the Fins’ training camp. Does Hill think 2000 yards is a realistic goal for the season? “Oh yeah, definitely. I think the extra game gives me an advantage there, so yeah,” the 29-year-old alluded to the Regular Season being extended by one game day since last year.
Hill celebrates Tagovailoa and McDaniel
Naturally, reporters also wanted to know what he thought it would take to have such a fabulous season. Hill’s answer: “Not getting hurt, wanting to improve every day, wanting to be coached. And I feel like I have the right tools around me.”
With that, he went out for the big praise: “I’ve got the most obviously on-target quarterback in the NFL, I’ve got one of the best head coaches in the NFL, and my position coach is a monster, too.” So in addition to Tagovailoa, Mike McDaniel and Wes Welker were also allowed to get verbal pats on the back here.
Hill ready for extra shifts with the offense
“With those three things and the mindset that I want to keep getting better every day and break the record, I want to break the record. That’s why I feel like this is going to be one of the years that I can achieve that,” Hill rounded out his battle cry to all defensive backs.
But that’s not all, because in order to be fully prepared going into his second Miami year, the sprinter among receivers would like to pull extra shifts with the offense before the next training camp in July. “I really hope Tua wants to go back to Hawaii, because that way I can squeeze in a holiday with the family and get some work done, too. “
