Netflix is planning a second season of the successful documentary series “Quarterback”, but several NFL stars have turned it down. Jaguars star Trevor Lawrence is also making a decision.
After the 1st season of the Netflix docu-series “Quarterback” was a great success, the streaming provider is already busy planning the sequel.
The search for a successor for the trio around Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs), Kirk Cousins (Minnesota Vikings) and Marcus Mariota (Atlanta Falcons), who were the protagonists in the premiere season, is proving difficult, however.
According to NFL reporter Dov Kleiman, Justin Fields (Chicago Bears), Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens), Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles), Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins), Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys), Sam Howell (Washington Commanders) and Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams) have already cancelled.
And Jaguars star Trevor Lawrence has meanwhile also denied his participation, although he said he enjoyed the first season. “I feel like it’s just not the right time for me,” the 23-year-old is quoted as saying by the “NFL Network. “
Joe Burrow: Confusion over Netflix participation
Meanwhile, there has been plenty of confusion surrounding the participation of Bengals star Joe Burrow in recent days.
The well-connected reporter Peter King from “NBC Sports” first reported that Burrow had accepted the offer from Netflix. Word-perfect, he wrote in his column about the Netflix documentary: “I hope there will be more insider insight next season – starting with the calf injury to 2023 series participant Joe Burrow.”
The information that Burrow will be a protagonist in the hit series spread furiously on the internet. All the more surprising that this very passage has now suddenly been deleted from the column. Now King only writes: “I hope there will be more insider insights next season”.
