Tom Brady dominated the NFL for years and won the Super Bowl seven times. Also because of the successes, he would rather not recommend a career in football to his children
The legacy Tom Brady left behind with his NFL career is second to none.
It’s also why the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback wouldn’t necessarily recommend a football career to his kids.
Jack Brady in the NFL? Father Tom would have reservations
Brady’s son Jack is already currently a playmaker on the field, and Brady’s ex-wife Gisele Bündchen indicated in an interview with Vanity Fair in March that the 15-year-old certainly had aspirations of playing like his father at the University of Michigan.
“A lot of it I wouldn’t put him through because there are too many crazy expectations that people would have of him. Most of them are probably very unfair, actually,” Brady replied on “ESPN” when asked what his hopes and concerns were if son Jack wanted to follow in his footsteps.
Tom Brady pledges full support for his children
Much more important to the 45-year-old, he said, is that his son finds something he is passionate about and does on his own initiative. “I hope he finds the things in his life that allow him to get up every day and be motivated from within to work hard at something he loves,” Brady made clear.
For him, that was football, because of his youth in the Bay Area, he followed the San Francisco 49ers in the 80s and 90s and was hooked. In addition, his parents often took him to the football field and supported him in achieving his goals.
Tom Brady on his kids’ careers: “Can be anything “
“That’s what we should do as parents – support our kids’ dreams, whatever they may be,” Brady clarified.
So should any of his children aspire to an NFL career, they should be assured of their father’s support. According to Brady, however, this applies to any professional career.
“It doesn’t have to be sports. It could be anything. It could be performing arts, it could be music, it could be science. It could be law, it could be medicine. I think that’s part of being a parent. You support your children’s dreams. Now that I have more time, I’m really looking forward to doing that,” said the 14-time Pro Bowler, who just a few days ago reiterated that he doesn’t want to play in the NFL anymore, despite ongoing comeback rumours.
