Tom Brady on conversation with Bill Belichick: “A nice end to the evening”

The public moment of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s reunion after the game turned into an awkward farce. Afterwards, however, the once-successful duo chatted a little longer in the dressing room.

Munich – The hug was strange.

Stiff, awkward, distant, very short. All in all, very unusual for a coach and a player who have worked together for 20 years, and at least very successfully in sporting terms. Yet it seemed as if Bill Belichick had little desire for a prolonged moment with his former quarterback Tom Brady

Was it the unfortunate 17-19 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in which the Patriots failed to convert a field goal for a potential win with just under a minute remaining? Was it the fact that everyone was waiting for this moment of reunion? Or is the relationship between the two really as bad as is often speculated?

Tom Brady: “It was a nice conversation “

Brady later revealed that he had a conversation with his ex-coach in the dressing room, which is said to have lasted 20 minutes. Brady declined to give details, but it sounded a lot more positive than it looked on the court.

“It was a nice conversation,” Brady said on SiriusXM’s “Let’s Go!” podcast. In doing so, he stressed that the two hadn’t seen each other since he left in March 2020, partly because of Corona, but also because both were focused on their respective jobs. “It was nice to exchange some thoughts that we had. And it was a nice way for both of us to end the evening.”

Brady doesn’t want to fuel speculation about the relationship with Belichick. “He’s been a great mentor to me,” Brady said. “When I came to Foxboro, I didn’t know anything about pro football. I came from California as a kid and he was an incredible mentor to me, an incredible coach to our team. And a lot of guys would say that. “

When you work with someone for 20 years, you know them pretty well, Brady said, “And he still does a great job, and I try to do a great job, and we’re very competitive people. And I appreciate everything he’s done for me as a coach, as I’ve said many times. And I know he feels the same about me. “
