In less than three weeks, the flag football tournament with Tom Brady is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia. This could be impossible due to the conflict in the Middle East.
The war in the Middle East has plunged the region into chaos. This is also affecting sporting events that were planned there.
In less than three weeks, the Fanatics Football Classic is scheduled to take place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is considered unlikely that the game will be played as planned on March 21. Cancellation, postponement, or relocation are likely the options.
Since the date falls during the short break for the NFL players who have committed to participate, relocating the venue seems to be the most realistic option.
Cancellation is apparently not up for debate – there is great interest in the three-team tournament with Tom Brady as the main attraction. Flag football has been experiencing a significant upswing for months, culminating in the sport’s inclusion in the program for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Quick decisions are now needed: the tournament starts in 20 days. It may still take place – but at a completely different location.
Formula 1 and other sporting events also affected
Other sports will also have to be rescheduled.
Formula 1 had planned races in Bahrain (April 12) and Saudi Arabia (April 19) in April. In addition, one of the world’s biggest horse races, the Dubai World Cup, is scheduled to take place on March 28.
At the moment, it seems unlikely that these events will be able to go ahead as planned.
