Tom Brady criticizes the current NFL quarterbacks and defends the behavior of the defense players. The hook is the penalty against Steelers safety Damontae Kazee.
In addition to his reputation as the best NFL player, Tom Brady also enjoys the image of someone who liked to complain when he was on the field.
Fans accuse the “GOAT” of complaining to the referee in order to get special treatment for himself and his offense.
But that seems to be changing now that his career is over.
Pittsburgh Steelers safety Damontae Kazee has been suspended for the rest of the season after a hard tackle on Colts receiver Michael Pittman Jr. Not okay with Brady
With a helmet-to-helmet hit, Kazee torpedoed the defenseless Pittman, who tried to catch the pass from quarterback Gardner Minshew with a pike jump.
Tom Brady takes defense in protection
Since it wasn’t Kazee’s first flagrant offense of the season, the NFL punished him. He will be suspended for the rest of the season. So at least three games. Possibly also for the possible postseason.
For Brady, that’s not entirely okay, he also sees the quarterback as responsible in such situations:
“Nobody likes it when someone gets hurt. But it happens sometimes. Quarterbacks shouldn’t throw the ball in areas where they put their teammates in such danger. Coaches need to coach better, QBs need to read defenses better and defenders need to attack the right areas of the body. But blaming just the defender every time is just flat out wrong. We need better QB plays. It’s not okay for receivers to take hard hits because the quarterback makes a bad decision.”
Watt agrees with Brady, Internet reacts cheekily
Former defensive end J.J. Watt responded to this Instagram comment from Brady on the Kazee issue with an award-winning emoji.
In a statement, the NFL explained the penalty against Kazee. He had already frequently attracted negative attention by “regularly ignoring the rules”, so “a harsher penalty is justifiable”.
Kazee has already been penalized five times this season. Each time for unnecessary harshness. He has already had to pay over 59,000 dollars in fines.
The Brady statement was partly ridiculed on the internet, as he himself is said to have not always protected his receivers, as this edited video clip shows.
