The Denver Broncos are mourning the loss of a two-time Super Bowl champion. The franchise announced that Harald Hasselbach passed away after suffering from cancer
Harald Hasselbach won the Super Bowl twice with the Denver Broncos. The Colorado franchise is also remembering these two successes as it publicizes the death of the Dutch-born defensive end.
According to the report, Hasselbach died at the age of 56 as a result of a serious cancer, as the Broncos reported with reference to the family. Sports Illustrated” writes that he was diagnosed with colon cancer six months ago.
Hasselbach is survived by his wife Aundrea, four children and four grandchildren. The family lives in a suburb of Denver.
Born in Amsterdam, Hasselbach joined the Broncos in 1994 after several years in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and, according to the franchise, did not miss a single game in the regular season or postseason in seven seasons.
He started 29 regular season games and all three postseason games on the way to a 34-19 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII in January 1999. Denver thus repeated its success from the previous year, a 31-24 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXII.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Harald Hasselbach (1994-00), a DE on our back-to-back Super Bowl teams who courageously fought a recent cancer diagnosis.
Our hearts go out to Harold’s wife, Aundrea, his four children & many loved ones.
