After his finger surgery, quarterback Russell Wilson will miss weeks with his Seattle Seahawks. After Pete Carroll recently refused to say anything about a comeback of the superstar, an insider now gives hope for a Wilson return at the earliest possible date. Then it would come to a duel between the quarterback giants.
Munich – Quarterback Russell Wilson has been missing from the Seattle Seahawks since suffering a finger injury in the game against the Los Angeles Rams on Game 5.
According to a report, however, the franchise can have high hopes for the return of their superstar as soon as possible.
As Mike Garafolo of the “NFL Network” reports, Wilson could, “barring anything unforeseen,” be ready to return to action as soon as possible. The needle that was operated on in Wilson’s middle finger after the injury is expected to be removed as early as next week.
The 32-year-old is currently on the Seahawks’ Injured Reserve List. NFL regulations require players on that list to sit out at least three games.
Quarterback duel against Aaron Rodgers beckons comeback
So far, Wilson has missed the Game 6 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, so he will definitely miss Game 7 this weekend against the New Orleans Saints and Game 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the Seahawks off on Matchday 9, the earliest possible comeback date would be Matchday 10 – the cracker against the Green Bay Packers on 14 November.
Lastly, Head Coach Pete Carroll would not make any statements about a Wilson comeback against the Packers. “We don’t know. The doctors can’t say and Russ can’t say,” he explained as recently as Thursday.
But at least according to Garafolo, the quarterback duel between the superstars Wilson and Aaron Rodgers could still work out.
