The scandal involving racist, homophobic and misogynistic emails from Jon Gruden is leading to his resignation. After his settlement with the Raiders, he is now said to be exploring his legal options against the NFL and Roger Goodell.
Munich – The scandal around Jon Gruden could go into the next round. As “CBS” reports, the ex-coach of the Las Vegas Raiders is exploring his legal options and various lawyers have reportedly indicated their willingness to pursue a lawsuit against the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell.
This week, Gruden had reached a settlement with the Raiders following his resignation over the racism scandal, according to owner Mark Davis, as he was still owed around $40 million from his $100 million contract signed in 2018, according to various reports. Davis did not give details of the settlement.
Is Gruden now striking back in a big way against the NFL and Goodell? Because he was brought down by his racist, homophobic and misogynistic emails that came to light as part of an NFL investigation into working conditions at the Washington football team.
“All of it.
“Anything but over “
The lawsuit is likely to be about the handling of the emails. The fact that the emails – which were sent when Gruden was not an employee of the league – were leaked at all and caused his departure from the Raiders.
The “New York Times”, for example, had leaked emails from 2011 to 2018. The investigation sifted through 650,000 emails, but the NFL won’t release them. “This is anything but over,” a league source is quoted as saying by “CBS”.
Gruden has not yet commented on possible actions on his part, but he had probably hinted in the context of a report by the US TV channel “HBO” that the truth would come to light. However, Davis has probably also raised questions about the handling of the whole incident, because the only one who has had to face consequences in the WFT investigation so far is Gruden.
Interesting: As “CBS” further reports, there is apparently talk in college football about whether Gruden could be a candidate for a coaching position.
