The boxing match between Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell will not take place in July. But that’s not because of the two star running backs who once shook up the NFL
Munich – Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell will have to be patient after all before they are let loose on each other in the boxing ring. The two long-time NFL running backs were actually supposed to fight each other this coming Saturday as part of Youtube star Austin McBroom’s “Social Gloves 2” event.
But the boxing evening in Los Angeles has to be postponed, as the organisers announced. The reason given is that the Youtuber AnEsonGib, who is supposed to meet McBroom in the main fight, cannot compete. As the celebrity portal “TMZ” reports, it is a head injury that precludes participation.
Peterson vs Bell: New date possibly in September
An early September date is being targeted as the new date. The plan, according to the article, is for the remaining matchups to be made up as well. However, “nfl.com” points out that Peterson says he plans to return to the football field, so a later matchup could be difficult.
Thus, there is “no guarantee that the two sweet junior academics will be available for the new date, or that no other opportunity will arise”. There was initially no reaction from Peterson or Bell. The latter had sought sponsors for the fight via social media just a few days ago.
As it is an exhibition match, it would not be the official boxing debut for either of them anyway. But maybe they will get a taste for it.
