No more NFL? Rob Gronkowski’s plan in the WWE

After Rob Gronkowski’s debut on the WWE show “Friday Night SmackDown”, speculation about the impact on a possible comeback in the NFL remains.

Last Friday Rob Gronkowski debuted on the TV show “Friday Night SmackDown” in a segment of the wrestling league WWE.Gronkowski probably does not want to become a full-time wrestler.

Last August, Gronkowski stated that he would consider wrestling as an activity in the future, but would consider it more as a one-time experience than as the beginning of a full-time career.

“I don’t feel like I’m going to be a full-time wrestler, but there is one thing that is close to my heart. And that’s playing a crazy match. Training a little bit for it and going out there – like at the Royal Rumble (a major WWE event, editor’s note),” Gronk told The Guardian at the time.

And “Gronk” also mentioned a rough time frame for his plan. “I have a friend in the WWE (Mojo Rawley, editor’s note) with whom I want to train and play a full WWE match. I’m not saying when, maybe in five years. I’ve got the rest of my life to do it.”

Nine surgeries, 20 concussions
Can the planned WWE match be interpreted as a rejection of a comeback in the NFL? Not necessarily. Gronkowski has the WWE in mind in the medium term, but for his plan described above, extensive training over several weeks in the off-season would probably be sufficient and would not collide with a return to professional football.

What the WWE and the NFL have in common: Professional wrestling is also known to be very physically demanding and Gronkowski’s career has been marked by numerous injuries.

By his own account, he has had just as many operations in his nine years in the NFL and suffered a total of 20 concussions.

Earlier it had already become known that “Gronk” will be the host of the upcoming biggest wrestling show of the year, Wrestlemania.

In the past, the former tight end of the New England Patriots repeatedly stressed that he does not want to categorically rule out a return to the NFL. Now, his current plans in professional wrestling could be a bitter blow to the hopes of many fans for a comeback.

Return of Gronkowski only to Brady Team?
Gronk without teammate Tom Brady in the NFL? Unthinkable, actually. In the past, the 30-year-old has already prevented the successful duo from separating prematurely.

Speculation that the Patriots would trade Gronkowski to the Detroit Lions before the 2018 season was confirmed by the player to WPRI 12 during the following season: “Yes, that’s true. Brady is my quarterback, that’s all. I didn’t want to go anywhere without Brady.”

“ESPN” reported at the time that Gronkowski Wind from Inte
