Actually the NFL wants to announce the game plan for the 2020 season on May 9. However, due to the Corona pandemic, the schedule of the games could be postponed.
The novel corona virus SARS-CoV-2 and the pandemic it has triggered have practically brought sports events to a standstill worldwide.
This also affects the NFL’s plans, of course. While in the world’s strongest football league everything is usually planned meticulously and the NFL calendar is based on dates set well in advance, this year it seems that improvisation is necessary.
While the draft has already been worked through virtually, the date for the announcement of the new game schedule for the 2020 season, which was actually dated May 9, could now be shaken.
NFL wants to be ready for the start of the season
According to “Sports Business Daily’s”, the NFL wants to keep all options open to respond to developments at short notice. However, as the league explained to ran.de, the big goal is still to start the season on time in autumn.
“Our focus is to be ready for the start of the season in August/September,” the NFL announced. “As in almost all areas, we are trying to be as flexible as possible to adapt to public health guidelines if necessary. Nothing is firmly planned yet.”
