The NFL teams have started their preparations for the new season. Some star players are missing in the hope of a mega contract
The teams’ preparation for the new season begins!
While the franchises with new head coaches started their voluntary workouts one or two weeks ago, 25 teams began their voluntary sessions on Monday.
Some stars like quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets are already involved, but some big names are also missing.
These include star wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who was absent from the Minnesota Vikings’ opener. The 24-year-old is in the final year of his rookie contract and is aiming for his first mega-contract – it could be the biggest deal for a pass receiver in history.
According to sources, Courtland Sutton also missed out on starting for the Denver Broncos. According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, the wide receiver is hoping for a new deal and is still under contract through the 2025 season.
Dallas Cowboys: CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons are missing from voluntary workouts
The Dallas Cowboys were missing two stars for the start of the voluntary offseason programs: Receiver CeeDee Lamb and versatile defensive ace Micah Parsons were conspicuous by their absences.
Lamb is in the same situation as Jefferson, as both players were selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. It will be interesting to see which of the two players gets their payday first, as that will in turn determine the market for the other.
Parsons, on the other hand, was selected in the first round of the 2021 draft. While he is eligible for a contract extension, Lamb has priority, as he would otherwise become an unrestricted free agent after the 2024 season
