For the first time since his scandalous departure from the Las Vegas Raiders, a quote from former head coach Jon Gruden is coming out in the open.
Munich – Things aren’t getting any quieter around former head coach Jon Gruden after racist, homophobic and misogynistic emails came to light.
“The emails that were released are not what we stand for, so Jon Gruden is no longer our head coach,” Raiders owner Mark Davis said several days after Gruden’s resignation. After more than a week of silence, the ex-head coach is now getting his first stage back.
Gruden with cryptic message
In the context of a report on Mark Davis by the US TV channel “HBO”, Gruden was contacted by the production after the scandal was published. The 58-year-old apparently left a cryptic message.
“He explained that he was still staying in Las Vegas and waiting for things to calm down a bit,” the US journalist involved, Andrea Kremer, told the “Real Sports Podcast”. ‘People who know me know what I’ve stood for for 58 years. I have a reputation over 58 years,’ Gruden is reported to have said to a producer on the show.
Further, he apparently stated, ‘The truth will come out’. According to Kremer, his remarks were to be understood as a “cryptic message”.
Raiders may continue to struggle with release
In the course of her work with Davis, Kremer has noted dissatisfaction on the part of the Raiders over the timing of the release. Rumours surfaced as early as last week that the Raiders owner sensed a conspiracy. According to a “CBS” report, the entrepreneur felt personally attacked by the NFL.
“Mark Davis is greatly affected. I don’t want to defend him here, but the fact of the matter is that Dan Snyder is still the owner in Washington and the football team can just go on as before,” Kremer also stated.
In fact, no other contents of the 650,000 emails have been released yet. However, according to the “Associated Press”, an anonymous source from the circle of the investigation wants to know that the NFL had not discovered any problems that were “even remotely comparable to Gruden”. It appears that the case will continue to haunt the current NFL season.
