The roast of Tom Brady has led to various reactions. One companion wasn’t even there
Tom Brady will not do the Roast again. He even regretted it afterwards because of his children.
Numerous companions were guests on the show, in which Brady was the victim of numerous, even nasty jokes. One person missing was Wes Welker, who played for the New England Patriots from 2007 to 2012. The former wide receiver does not regret his absence.
“I was asked to sit on the sidelines and get toasted, and I’m glad I wasn’t there,” said Welker, who currently works as receivers coach for the Miami Dolphins. “To each his own, I guess.”
Welker totaled 567 catches for 6,345 yards and 34 touchdowns in 78 games during his time with the Patriots, plus four more playoff touchdowns.
Welker would almost certainly have been the target of the mock as well. His uncatchable ball in the final quarter of Super Bowl XLVI against the New York Giants (17-21) is still the subject of controversy among Patriots fans today.
Welker was “a little disappointed with the broadcast. There was some funny stuff and everything, but you know, it was what it was. “
