NFL: Tom Brady causes outrage with comments about dogs – animal rights organization PETA reprimands commentator

Disappointment over comments made by Tom Brady: The former star quarterback has been reprimanded by animal rights organization PETA for his comments during a game.

Tom Brady caused a stir on social media as a commentator during the Chicago Bears’ 31-14 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

However, it wasn’t his analysis that caused the stir, but a remark that sparked a wave of outrage and did not go down well with animal rights organization PETA.

“Kick the dog, throw the helmet, do whatever it takes,” said the former star quarterback.

His comments came from a situation late in the game when FOX cameras showed Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens sitting on the bench and repeatedly slamming his helmet on the ground after a pass he dropped led to an interception.

PETA admitted to TMZ Sports that it was surprised to hear Brady’s comments, as the 48-year-old is actually “animal-friendly.”

“So we were just as confused as everyone else about his comment that he ‘kicks the dog at home.’”

The animal welfare organization tried to make Brady aware of the responsibility that comes with his reach and to convey to him that he needs to be more careful when talking about animals.

“PETA encourages Brady to remember that millions of people are listening to him. And further:

”The language we use can promote kindness or violence toward animals, and we should never consider it normal to take out our frustration on a beloved companion.”

To illustrate its point, PETA even compiled a list of alternative expressions. Instead of “kick the dog,” they suggested phrases such as “act like an ogre” or “back the wrong team.”
