The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver announced the news himself on his X-account. He will be franchised again like last season.
Wide receiver Tee Higgins will play another season with the Cincinnati Bengals with the franchise tag. The 26-year-old announced this with the simple statement “tag.” on his X-account.
Ian Rapoport confirmed this information a little later and justified the step from the perspective of the franchise with the time gained for negotiations for a long-term extension.
The Bengals have been clear about their priorities — Lock in Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Trey Hendrickson. The hope is this is a place holder for a long-term deal. https://t.co/KBdV1VqRyj

His contract last year earned the veteran $21.8 million, and this year that amount increases to $26.2 million.
Recently, there has been much speculation as to whether Higgins would look for a new team as a free agent or continue to negotiate with the Bengals. The franchise from Ohio is now putting a stop to this speculation – for the time being. The franchise is buying itself more time with the tag.
