After his suspension for sexually harassing numerous women expired, the Cleveland Browns have signed quarterback Deshaun Watson to the squad.

Cologne – After his suspension for sexually harassing numerous women expired, the Cleveland Browns of the NFL’s professional football league have brought quarterback Deshaun Watson into the squad and laid the groundwork for his comeback. This means Watson could be in action on Sunday (19.00 CET) at his former club Houston Texans. If Watson plays, it will be his first NFL appearance in 700 days.

The US league had increased a six-game suspension for Watson to 11 games in mid-August and fined the 27-year-old five million dollars. Between March 2020 and March 2021, Watson allegedly arranged to have massages with numerous women, and 25 filed complaints. Watson, then still with the Texans, allegedly solicited sexual acts. Most of the cases have since been settled out of court.

On 1 August, Watson was initially suspended for six games by disciplinary commissioner Sue L. Robinson. The NFL subsequently appealed and demanded that Watson be suspended for at least the entire season.

Watson signed a five-year contract with the Browns for a guaranteed $230 million. To make room for him, Cleveland parted ways with quarterback Joshua Dobbs.
