The first season of the brand new documentary series “American Sports Story” will revolve around Aaron Hernandez. Episodes one and two will be broadcast on September 17.
In ten episodes based on the podcast “Gladiator”, the TV channel “FX” sheds light on the life of the former football superstar – including all the highs and dramatic lows.
After his successful time in the NFL with the New England Patriots, Hernandez was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder. He committed suicide in his prison cell around two years later.
The documentary has a prominent cast. Tribute to Panem” star Josh Andrés Rivera will play the leading role. Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arnold’s son, slips into the role of Hernandez’s buddy and ex-Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.
In a Patriots jersey, Hernandez rushed for 1,956 yards and 18 touchdowns and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2011.
