Four players from the ELF took part in the NFL IPP Pro Day and left a strong impression according to a scout.
The European League of Football can certainly be a stepping stone to the NFL. The best proof is kicker Lenny Krieg (Stuttgart Surge), who signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
But he is not the only player from the ELF who has NFL ambitions.
Four players took part in the NFL IPP Pro Day at the University of South Florida last week. Besides Krieg, they were his fellow Germans Bastian Roppelt (punter, Frankfurt Galaxy) and Leander Wiegand (offensive lineman, Munich Ravens) and Frenchman Maceo Beard (defensive back, Paris Musketeers).
NFL IPP scout Mark Dulgerian evaluated the performances of the four participants for the ELF online editorial team.
Krieg in particular received a lot of praise: “He carried his momentum from the combine and showed impressive lift and power in his kicks. Our kicking coach, Tadhg Leader, did a fantastic job preparing him for what NFL teams are focusing on in these workouts.”
Wiegand excelled in the bench press
Wiegand also impressed the scouts in the bench press with 38 reps of 225 pounds. That would have been an amazing five reps more than any offensive lineman at the 2025 NFL Combine. He would also have ranked in the top 6 offensive linemen in the long jump (8’10) and vertical jump (32 inches) with his performances.
Dulgerian is “not surprised by his results. He set an ambitious goal for the bench press and achieved it with one of the best grades in the entire draft class. He also moved well for his size in the drills.”
Beard also received high praise from Dulgerian: ‘He has really worked on his physicality during his time at IMG and showed up in great shape at his pro day. He looked very good in the field exercises and caught the ball well.’
