NFL: Scott Hanson remains host of “RedZone” – question mark over ‘ESPN’ takeover

Scott Hanson enjoys cult status among NFL fans. He has now announced that he will remain host of the NFL conference “RedZone” in 2026.

Scott Hanson is a familiar face to all NFL fans who tune in to “RedZone” during the regular season. The 54-year-old has been hosting the league’s weekly Sunday conference since 2009.

After the last broadcast of the 2025 season last Sunday, Hanson gave an emotional farewell to viewers, leading some to suspect that this was a permanent departure as “RedZone” host.

However, he has since announced that he intends to continue hosting the show in the 2026 season. “I just got carried away in the moment. It just got to me at that moment,” he wrote in response to a social media post about his emotions. He also explained: “All the hard work and sacrifices our team has made. I’ll be back – and see you in September! Enjoy the playoffs.”

“RedZone” to become part of “ESPN” in the future

Fans can look forward to seeing Hanson again in the fall. However, it remains unclear what will happen to “RedZone” in general.

A few months ago, it was announced that the NFL wants to sell its previously independent media production, including “RedZone,” to “ESPN.” The authorities still have to give their approval, but the deal could be officially completed in the course of the year.

RedZone already caused a stir last season when, for the first time in the program’s history, commercial breaks were incorporated into the broadcast. This caused an outcry among fans in the US. In this country, however, the commercials were not shown.
