Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers becomes the highest-paid quarterback in the US professional football league NFL.
Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers has been promoted to the highest-paid quarterback in the US professional football league NFL. According to US media reports, the 25-year-old will receive a new five-year contract for the equivalent of 237.6 million euros (262.5 million US dollars). The Chargers confirmed a multi-year contract extension in a statement, but did not give any details.
With his deal, Herbert surpasses quarterbacks Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles/255 million US dollars) and Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens/260 million US dollars), who also recently caused a stir with record contracts.
Herbert, selected by the Chargers in 2020 as the number six overall pick in the NFL draft, will thus remain with the Californians until 2029. He quickly established himself as the league’s top quarterback in his first few years and has thrown for 14,089 yards and 94 touchdown passes with 35 interceptions.
