NFL. Odell Beckham Jr. still without a new team – that’s why he should take his time.

With Odell Beckham Jr. one of the best NFL receivers is still without a contract for the new season. But according to insider Ian Rapoport, signing him wouldn’t make much sense at this point.

Munich – The training camps of the 32 NFL teams have been running for quite some time, and the start of the season at the beginning of September is only about a month away. Nevertheless, star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. still does not have a new contract.

Many fans and experts are puzzling over when and where the free agent will sign a new contract.

Besides his former team Los Angeles Rams, with whom he won the Super Bowl in February, various other teams are said to be interested, including for example the Green Bay Packers.

Odell Beckham can wait to sign

According to Ian Rapoport of “NFL Network”, however, it might not make much sense for OBJ to sign a new contract at this time.

The pass receiver tore his ACL in the Super Bowl. He is therefore not expected to be available for the first half of the regular season anyway.

When it comes to choosing his next franchise, the receiver can easily take his time until October or early November. This opens up the chance for him to go to a team that has a real need at the pass receiver position.

Next deep playoff run?

Such was the case last season when OBJ was released by the Browns and shortly thereafter signed with the Rams, where Robert Woods tore his ACL.

There is another aspect that may play a role for Beckham in choosing his next team: Never in his eight-year career has the star receiver been offered a mega-contract. If he chooses his next team well, has strong performances and a deep run in the playoffs, he can better recommend himself for a maximum contract.

So there seems to be no hurry in signing him.
