Drew Brees is no longer an analyst at “NBC”. The network has now officially announced this. The former quarterback is said to want to spend more time with his family. Nevertheless, rumours persist about a move to “Fox”.
Munich – Drew Brees will not return to “NBC Sports”.
This was confirmed by Pete Bevacqua, chairman of the NBC Sports Group. Last year, the former quarterback of the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints had served as a pundit and analyst at NFL games as well as games of the college team Notre Dame.
According to Bevacqua, Brees wants to spend more time with his family: “The incredible hustle and bustle of an NFL career and then to really not take a break and go right along with us Notre Dame football and the NFL – that was certainly a ’round-the-clock commitment.’ This was definitely a lifestyle decision for him, which is completely understandable.”
Brees had ended his career in the 2021 offseason and signed a multi-year contract with “NBC”. However, the 43-year-old was always criticised by fans in his first year for his style of analysis.
Is Drew Brees on his way to “Fox”?
However, Bevacqua says this was not a factor in Brees’ decision. He said he was very pleased with the former NFL quarterback: “It was a new role and everyone has a learning curve. I think he did an unbelievable job with Notre Dame and improved every week. He was always incredibly prepared and curious about how things were handled and the work that went into it. “
Brees is still under contract with “NBC.” However, the network stated that it would not “stand in the way” should another network seek the 43-year-old’s services. In the past, there have been repeated rumours of a commitment to “Fox”.
However, it is likely that Brees will not be a pundit on US TV next season. There will also be no return to the pitch, as has been rumoured in recent weeks and months.
