NFL – Joe Burrow cures wrist injury with unusual method

Joe Burrow has one big goal for the upcoming season: to stay healthy. To get fit again after his wrist injury, he has even learned to play an instrument

Everyone has their own way of dealing with injuries. Joe Burrow is learning to play an instrument – also to support his rehabilitation after his wrist injury.

“I’m learning to play the piano,” Burrow said on “Complex”. “Hopefully I’ll get pretty good at it by next offseason. I guess it’s going to be pretty tough during the season, but it’s also helped my rehab for my wrist, so that’s something I want to get good at.”

He’s always wanted to learn how to play, he said, “but this was an opportune time to work on my hand and wrist dexterity and learn it at the same time,” Burrow said.

Cincinnati Bengals miss playoffs without Burrow

The 27-year-old suffered a torn ligament in his wrist in week eleven of last season against the Baltimore Ravens. After the injury, the Bengals missed the playoffs. In the lockout-shortened season, he posted a 66.8 percent pass rate for 2,309 yards. He also scored 15 touchdowns with only six interceptions.

His goal for the new season? “First of all, I want to be on the field for every game,” he said. “I know I’m going to play well when I’m out there. I’m at a point in my career where I know myself so well that I can play as well as anyone. The biggest progress this year will be my body and learning how to get through the season and training with my body and feeling in top shape. That’s the main focus in the offseason. “

Paul Dehner Jr. of “The Athletic” had also recently reported that the Bengals want to try a new approach to keep Burrow injury-free.

According to his report, the team’s head coach, Zac Taylor, has ordered that the 27-year-old be given every other day of the week off. This is to prevent him from “pushing himself too hard.”
