NFL: Joe Buck and Troy Aikman take over Monday Night Football on “ESPN”

“ESPN” signs a well-known commentator duo for its broadcasts of Monday Night Football. The network is apparently digging deep into its pockets.

Munich – The US broadcaster “ESPN” has announced its commentary duo for Monday Night Football.

Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will commentate on the players on Monday night (local time) in the future. According to media reports, both signed a five-year contract.

Buck and Aikman previously worked together as NFL commentators for “FOX” for 20 years.

Expert Aikman is to receive 90 million dollars for his work – as much as Tony Romo at “CBS” -, play-by-play caller Buck 75 million dollars.

Buck and Aikman will set the record next season held by Pat Summerall and John Madden, who commentated on NFL games together for 21 years.

Buck looking forward to new job

“Returning to the stadiums on Monday night – and doing it with Troy, who I have the utmost respect for and feel really comfortable with, to start a new chapter there: It leaves me full of anticipation for the new season and our future,” Buck said in a statement.

Aikman won three Super Bowl titles as quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2006.
